David Petty will showcase App Inventor and its newest capabilities—in particular the machine-learning and generative-AI components and how App Inventor encourage learning both about and with AI. Petty will also introduce how App Inventor curricula and tools are an example of ethics-first, human-centered approach to teaching and learning of computing, AI, data science and physical computing.
Angie Zhou will deliver a workshop that demonstrates how App Inventor can offer a powerful, hands-on learning opportunity for fostering Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)—specifically empathy, active listening, self-awareness, and constructive response to feedback. Now that AI can code, we believe education must focus on what makes us uniquely human: understanding people, seeing through their eyes, and solving real human problems.
