Blockly Summit 2026

This summit is organized by the Raspberry Pi Foundation's Blockly Team to bring together open-source developers and educators working on blocks-based languages. App Inventor Foundation CEO & Executive Director Natalie Lao will give the talk "Blocks-Based Innovation Beyond the Connectivity Divide". Principal Engineer José Dominguez will present "The Relevance of Block-based Environments as Representational Systems in the age of AI Coding Agents", and App Inventor Lead Software Engineer Evan Patton will be giving two talks: "Visualizing Diffs in MIT App Inventor" and "Dr. Strangebug… Or, how I learned to stop worrying and love the debugger, Evan W." Board member Mark Friedman will be giving two workshops, "Blockly in the Age of Vibe Coding: Experience Reports, Discussion and Advice" and "Blockly in the Age of Vibe Coding: Is Blockly Relevant". And last but not least, Principal Engineer Mike Gallagher will also be giving talks and workshops.

The team will also have a demo table for demoing App Inventor's new offline AI model training + app development project!
