David Petty, Education Program Manager at the App Inventor Foundation, is giving a speech at AIxEd[CONNECT] on May 9, 2026, hosted at Northeastern University’s Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Complex in Boston, Massachusetts.
In his talk, “Computational Action in the Age of AI,” he discusses how MIT App Inventor supports more than 28 million learners globally, including 11,000 schools monthly, through its free, open-source mobile app development platform. He explores how students use computational action to solve real-world community problems and highlights the importance of ethical design, teacher empowerment, meaningful assessment, and the teacher-student relationship as AI becomes more present in K–12 education.
